Adventures at Tilden Park

My maternity leave ends today. So for the last week I have been taking Jantzen on some great adventures, trying to spend as much quality time with him as I can. (He won't remember any of it, but I sure have been having fun.) This week we went to Tilden Park, Lake Merritt, the Cowboy Park and the Oakland Zoo.

Here is a look into our afternoon at Tilden Park last week.

This is the beginning of our 1 mile hike. As soon as we hit the trail, he hits the sack.





This is jewel lake - our destination. I thought Jantzen might enjoy looking at the fish and turtles...


yet still he sleeps.


We found a boardwalk to take us back to the main gate. This walks us through the trees and over a creek or two. We even saw a small fawn.


well, I did, because still he sleeps.


We hike all the way back, passing kids and birds, even a cow and some chickens. But he misses it all. Then, we make it to the parking lot and Jantzen wakes up... and he's not happy we are leaving. What a sad, sad face.


I wonder if he appreciates the two hours we spent at the park. It must have been a good nap.

Aunt Vonnie and Uncle Jon come to town!

Boy was Jantzen happy to see his Aunt and Uncle from NY this weekend. He was all smiles.

Jantzen has been on quite a tour since landing in Texas. He has met his great-grandmother, JoJo and Aunt Pam...

Jantzen is having a fantastic time in Texas seeing the whole crew.

And he really was happy to see his Nanny... even though he doesn't look like it here.

And Rick is having fun too. Here we are at the Country Tavern.

Jantzen's first flight

He was a perfect angel on the way there... he didn't cry once and slept most of the way. In fact, all three of us slept on the way there. It was great.

Our trip back may be a different story, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Easter Sunday

Today was Jantzen's first Easter. He was the cutest baby in church. We had to step outside during the service not because he was crying, but because he was "talking" too much. He's such a happy guy.
